A Collaborative Approach
To Custom Design
We admire couples that care about the details - how their guests’ will receive a unique experience with artisanal stationery. And we value your vision. At Crane & Palette, we aim to capture each clients’ love story with paper designed to represents your aesthetic. Long story short, our process goes like this…
Step One
Let's Chat
We are so excited to hear from you! All of our designs start with a consultation (either over the phone or in-person) to talk through your vision. Now's the time to tell us everything about you and your fiancé - we love details! Once we have gathered all of the details to bring your vision to life, we will prepare a proposal that outlines the perfect suite to fit your vision, your timeline and your budget. From there, we request a 50% deposit to get started on the design process.
Step Two
design
The best part! This is where all of the good stuff happens. We begin by providing two sketches of proposed designs for your suite, which will include color swatches, font suggestions, and/or illustrations for each design. These sketches will show two potential design routes we can take within your discussed vision. Once one of the initial sketches are approved, we will move forward with the detailed design. From here, you will receive a more comprehensive digital proof that includes a full preview of your suite, detailed artwork, our paper selections, as well a suggested finishing. Think ribbons, wax seals, vintage postage (the REAL good stuff!). Once everything is exactly how you have envisioned it, you will provide a written sign-off for printing and production!
Step Three
finishing + Production
And voila - your invitations that were lovingly designed on screen come to life! From here, we will begin assembling your invitations, from wax seals and string ties to envelope liners and calligraphy. If you choose to opt for full assembly, we will stuff and seal all of your envelopes, stamp them, and drop them off at the post office for you - ensuring a stress-free experience from start to finish. If you plan on assembling yourself, that’s fine too! We will quality check and carefully hand-package all of your pieces. Hey - we get it. Assembling your own stationery is an excellent bonding opportunity for you and your fiancé!

Some More
About Printing
Here are our most coveted printing processes that we offer to our clients. During your initial consultation, we will recommend which printing processes fit best with your vision. At Crane & Palette, we use the highest quality paper to yield the best results for these printing methods. Our specialties include flat printing, letterpress printing and foil press. Have something else in mind? Just ask!
Flat Printing
Flat printing, also known as a fancy way of saying high-quality digital printing, is the most versatile form of printing. It allows us to print as MANY colors as we would like for no extra charge, which makes it wonderful for items like watercolor maps or colorful envelope liners. The ink is flushed flat on the paper and prints in vibrant, rich colors, and this printing process works on many different types of paper. This is the most cost effective printing process.
Letterpress
Letterpress is a traditional, timeless printing process that creates a deep impression when the ink is pressed into the paper. This printing process is a labor of love, and creates an elegant, pillowy texture wherever it is used on your wedding invitations. This printing process only works for type and line drawings, but we can print watercolor artwork using flat printing and then letterpress the type as well. This is one of our most coveted printing processes.
Foil Press
Much like letterpress, foil press creates a deep impression when the foil is pressed into the paper. Foil press creates a metallic finish on your stationery that makes it feel extra special and luxurious. We offer many foil colors, including matte gold (pictured above), silver, copper, bronze and black. If you’re working with a neutral color palette with metallic accents on your wedding day, foil press is a wonderful option for your stationery.
A Note
About Paper
We only print using the highest quality papers, hand-selecting paper for you based on your project. Our house single-ply cotton paper is used for any projects with white cards, and double or triple-ply cotton paper is available upon request. For a project where handmade paper is requested or recommended, we source our paper on a project-by-project basis to ensure that we find paper that fits your exact needs, and that you are getting the crème de la crème.
